Day 15: 100 Days

"For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands."     - 2 Timothy 1:6

When you light incense, you strike the match and light the end of the incense stick so that it has a burning ember hot enough to remain burning without a raging flame. In order to do this, I will often gently blow on the tip where the spark sits to encourage it to take on a life of it's own as it slowly burns through the stick. Fan into flame. To keep alive. To put into motion. This is what this scripture is referring to when Paul writes to Timothy, encouraging him to keep the gifts alive that have been given to him through the power of the physical act of laying his hands on him in prayer. There is a confidence in Paul's voice that believes Timothy has what it takes. His mentorship has to have been a pivotal element to Timothy's ministry.

The world needs your gifts. The world also needs people to speak life into those gifts - bolstering the confidence of those with less experience or with fewer people in their court. Who can you invest in? Who can you help fan the flame of their gifts today?  I know I would not be where I am today without the encouragement and prayers of a few special people in my life.
