Day 48: 100 Days
I'll tell you one of the most empowering words I've learned how to use ...
It was literally my "Word of the Year" one year.
And there are so many nice ways you can say it that makes it not feel icky if you're a "Yes" person.
No, thank you.
It's not really my style.
I'm not the right person for that job.
The timing is not good for me right now.
Sorry, I have another commitment.
I'm not available.
I'd love to but ...
I have to be somewhere.
I'm practicing my word of the year, so .... No.
Is that something you can do? (to the kids)
Thanks for thinking of me, but I can't take on another project right now.
I'm swamped, maybe another time.
Sounds like a great opportunity but I'm at capacity right now.
Nope. Not today!
See? I could go on and on. So many ways to let your No be No.
Stick to your guns. No need to offer an explanation. Set boundaries. This helps you maintain your priorities, avoid burnout, and avoid resenting yourself or others for taking on things that weren't yours to take.
